Trauma, The Nervous System and The Brain:
You will gain expert insight into complex trauma, the nervous system and the brain. You will discover the neurobiology of trauma, how our body functions to keep us safe in the face of danger, and how trauma manifests in the first place.

In this module you will explore the subject of trauma. You will discover the different forms of trauma that can be experienced including Shock Trauma, PTSD, Complex trauma CPTSD, and Societal/Cultural Trauma. You will also learn about the specific categorisation of Complex Trauma, including what influences it and how it impacts those who have experienced it.
In this module you will delve into your autonomic nervous system. You will discover what it is and its' importance in your body's emotional and physical functioning. You will also learn about how the impacts of trauma shape your autonomic nervous system and what we can do to unstuck and rewire it.
In this module, you will learn how to build the capacity to be in your body. For many, safety doesn't feel safe. To access and pay attention to what you are feeling in your body can be dysregulating, triggering and sometimes retraumatising. Here you will learn about safety as an arousal state in the nervous system and effective practices to access and cultivate safety.
In this module, you will discover your fight/fight survival response. Your fight/flight is a sympathetic nervous system response which results in a significant charge of activation motivating you to mobilise. Here you will learn about what is feels like to be in fight and flight as well as effective practices to meet, regulate and move through this state of arousal.
In this module, you will discover your freeze and shutdown/collapse survival responses. Your freeze is a dual sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system response which results in a significant charge of activation motivating you to do act whilst also keeping you immobile. Your shutdown/collapse is a dorsal nervous system response which results in a feeling of numbness and disconnection in order to protect you from further pain when things become too overwhelming and too threatening to process. Here you will learn about what is feels like to be in freeze and shutdown/collapse as well as effective practices to meet, regulate and move through these states of arousal.
In this module, you will learn how to process emotions that arise from regulating your nervous system. It is common for emotions and core wounds to surface once you have moved out of dyregulation. Here you will discover what this means and how to attend to these emotional needs in the moment.
In this module, you will discover how to integrate your learning from this course into your everyday life. Here you gain ideas on how to be an gentle and curious observer of your arousal regulation and when it can be beneficial to incorporate regulation practices in your day-to-day.
